Te-waza Throw

Te-waza (hand techniques) use the arms and upper body to break balance and complete throws.

Description

A technique to uplift the opponent on both shoulders across the back of the neck and throw him down by breaking his balance forward while holding his right thigh from the inside with the right arm. (Kodokan definition)

Key points

  1. Break uke’s balance forward.
  2. Hold uke’s thigh from the inside with the arm.
  3. Lift uke onto the shoulders.
  4. Throw by rotating and dropping.
