Te-waza (hand techniques) use the arms and upper body to break balance and complete throws.

Description

A technique to push down the opponent backward by holding one of his legs either from the inside or outside with one of the hands and pulling it up. (Kodokan definition)

Key points

  1. Grip one of uke’s legs from inside or outside.
  2. Pull the leg up and drive uke backward.
  3. Push down to complete the throw.
