Koshi-waza (hip techniques) use the hips as the main fulcrum to lift and throw uke.

Required for belt requirements: Orange Belt.

Description

A technique to sweep up the opponent with the right leg and throw him down by breaking his balance forward and loading him onto the back of the right hip. (Kodokan definition)

Key points

  1. Break uke’s balance forward; load onto hip.
  2. Sweep uke’s leg(s) with your leg.
  3. Throw with the sweeping and turning action.
